Princess peed and pooped on our property \(^O^)/
I am sure you guys are just dead thrilled to hear about yet another our dog adventure story (^o^;)

I think she is finally "house broken" in our own definition. She peed and pooped on our property for the first time today...we are SO relieved!

She had couple of accidents in the house. The problem is that she doesn't let us know when she needs to go outside. I think she is still fearful of us, somewhat, or she just felt like she was not allowed to do her business at all around us. When we just let her run freely very late at night and early in the morning she can go, in next door neighbor's backyard (the problematic one, who also owns 2 indoor/outdoor cats and an uncontrollable Schnauzer she lets out without a leash), but we just couldn't let her keep going there any more, specially there are too much commotion during the day and she really can't go to that direction with other people present.

So we installed Petsafe wireless fence (the device transmit signals in circle rather than having to install in-ground wires) since 2 days ago. First time she tried to go to the neighbor's yard with it and got the mild shock from it, she totally freaked out and ran back to our deck, and not wanting to go outside AT ALL. I think we traumatized her big time. We have been trying to ease her fear by making her follow us on a leash around the safe zone etc. We took her to the dog park twice last week and she relived herself more comfortably there (because the space is huge she can go very far away to do her business) but we just couldn't let her get used to having to have to go to the dog park to do her business, so we had to force her to be crated and took her outside several times, trying to run with her and lead her with a leash around the house many times, because otherwise she would not come down from the deck. The good news is that it only took her one time to learn the concept of the boundary. She would not dare attempting to go outside of the marker flags now. She also understands it's safe to leave the boundary with us on the leash. She is amazingly clever that way.

She held her pee and poop about 36 hours again (!!!) and she finally went within the fence boundary, this afternoon. It was such a big relief to us, you don't know how much! We were constantly in this state of high alert and stress...I am sure we were stressing the poor dog out (-o-;) And this evening, I let her out before and after the walk and food/water, and she did pee before the walk and pooped after the walk and food/water. She just went and did her business and came right back, like it's her usual habit now. We were so overjoyed, we were jumping up and and down by the window together, and almost cried (;o;) Are we silly or what...

We just received 1st season Dog Whisperer yesterday and have been watching and learning from it. We have been taking her to 1 hour walk in the morning and additional 30 minute walk in the evening every day, trying to "train" her. She still backs away from and tries to bark at neighbors out of her fears, but I think (hope!) she just needs to get used to the regular human neighborhood...I feel so awful for her, everyone has been asking if the dog has been abused. I think sudden change of the environment has been pretty heavy on her but hopefully she will adjust some time. She is starting to trust us little by little, but with this dog it's going to be one of these baby steps thing. She is a Chow/Shepherd/Border Collie mix, and they do say Chows are very cautious with new people. I consider this a great patience lesson for us.

Oh by the way here is the pictures from the dog park. It's just very large fenced field, where you can let your dog run around without the leash. You get to see all kinds of breed of dogs...we even saw a Great Dane there (not in the photo), that dog was so HUGE! (@_@)
..

Oh and as for the tree...it's still on our roof (-_-) The tree guy was supposed to remove it last Wednesday. Well they delayed it for Friday, and their equipment needs to be fixed and it would take 2 weeks, so he just canceled the job entirely (-_-) The tree has been up on the roof for 2 weeks now... We called the new tree guy and he is supposed to come in Tuesday to remove it. We are crossing our fingers very tight.

I finally feel little less stressed enough to start scrabbling my sketchbook but it didn't turn out very good. Maybe try again tomorrow (^_^) Sooo behind with fics and posts and all that such...gotta catch up sometime...!

I love hearing about your dog! It makes me so happy when you share your life, even if it's about poop and fallen trees! *grins* I mean seriously, you listen to me whine about my kids all the time :P

I'm so happy that Princess is doing better. I hear good things about that wireless fence and she'll be happiest running free in your yard. It's just the adjustment time that can be so hard, but before you know it everything will settle.

I hope the tree people come soon too! That would frustrate me to no end.

*hugs you tight*

But hey...kids sounds more meaningful than dog poop and dead tree! (^O^)/"

Our backyard is very hilly and has draining ditch etc, it just doesn't work very well with the real fence. She learned the concept of the fence boundary so quickly, which was a big relief. Not having to worry about the toilet stuff really relaxed us and as a result, her as well (^_^)

Now our lawn guy who was supposed to come Saturday is not coming until Wednesday (-_-) It's just that kind of month I suppose... *hugs*

that's wonderful news about princess--you're such a patient family with her and it's obvious how good to her you are! imagine if she went to a family who didn't care so much! i'm sure that in time she'll be 100% happy all the time!

sorry to hear about your tree! that's a long time for a company to leave it! i hope they'll come and fix it very soon.

the pictures of the dog park are very nice--looks like a fun place!!

Believe me, we almost lost it more than once, seriously discussed "returning" her back (^o^;) But every time we thought about it, tiny little improvement happened and changed out mind.

Lawn guy supposed to cut our grass on Saturday is now not coming until Wednesday...it's just one of these month (-o-;)

The dog park certainly was so much fun! You can really tell the physical and activity difference amongst many breed of dogs (^_^)

I'm trying to catch up on the journals of some of my friends and was delighted to hear about Princess. Collies and Shepherds are such intelligent dogs - I think she'll learn very quickly.

I've been very stressed out about the injury to my cat and her surgery, so for the last few months it has been hit and miss on the journals. I know I've talked about Dreams a lot in my journal lately, but I think all pet owners understand.

I think touch is one of the best communicators with pets. If you want to have Princess get more used to you and hubby inside, you might want to share your movie viewing with her. (You can make it a ritual - pets seem to love them.) Just having her sit with you and having you stroke her occasionally works wonders. I used to babysit my brother's dog when he was on vacation. I worked, but went there each night to spend some time with him. I ended up sitting on the floor watching tv and soon it became a ritual. Rocky put his head on my lap and I stroked and talked to him as we enjoyed the programs.

Good luck. I'll be rooting for you.

Your cat went through a surgery? Oh I am so sorry...I hope she is doing better now! *hugs*

I have been sitting down on the floor when I watch DVD with hubby, and let her lay down next to my leg. She seems to enjoy it...we weren't able to do it when we were crate-training her, but now we got hold of her toilet habit we can let her being around without stressing ourselves out (^_^)

Hey, we like hearing what's going on in your life! And the dog stories are fun! Well... the good parts, anyway. ^____^ I'm so glad Princess seems to be settling in and getting used to her new home.
And I will keep my fingers crossed that the new tree guy actually shows up and does his job. How frustrating!

We actually gave her a bath this evening (^o^) She is getting sweeter every day... (^______^) The tree guy is supposed to show up tomorrow. *crossing fingers very hard* y(^_^y)

Oh my god, Cesar Millan is like a genius. *has been learning lots from him* I bought his first book and about halfway through, needing to buy the second soon.

I really want to buy his series. Ah I wish I was rich. ^-^;;

I didn't know he had a book! I may want to look into that...

We are no Cesar but we are training with Princess! (^_^)/"

We could rent it but my hubby was somehow not very into renting his DVD series. We bought it used copy from Amazon marketplace so it wasn't very pricey (^_~)
